why so many cal.s could't (.17 hmr fox and smaller)-(-22.250 up to deer)--(deer and boar???.270)--...(elk & bear size game.300win mag. ) ok replace .270 with what ever you have and i think that would do it?

22-250 is not legal in many states for deer and wouldn't be considered a deer caliber by many. Can't argue with your other suggestions. Variety is the spice in life and so you can never have too many guns, in my opinion.
I believe .22 centerfire is the smallest for deer in my state...The only way I would feel comfortable using a .223 or similar is with a Barnes TSX bullet...even then I probably wouldn't.
.243 is the smallest allowed in WV and MD. but yes, the ol' .270 will drop just about anything in the continental US of A.
