20 cal for deer
I was wondering how many have used them with success using the 40 grain vmax?

i would never use a 22 cal for deer and would suggest it not be done. but the 40 gr v-max out of my 22.250 is super on woodchuck and coyotes.

I don't feel a 22 is a good choice. It can kill a deer, but why take the risk. But like said, great for coyotes and such.

Kansas regulations state no smaller then .23
They also have regs for cartrige length so it may not even be legal.

Even if it were legal it wouldn't have much stopping power

Guns and ammo june 2005.... article by Kevin E Steele takes a CZ 527 in .204 ruger to africa and takes out a blesbok ram at over 100yrds hitting him in the lungs, he aslo kills a warthog and other various animals in that article.

So my question with all due respect is NOT would you use or can you use a 22 cal/20 cal for deer. It is HAVE you and if you have what are YOUR results.

You already have our answer---NO we have not with all due respect to the deer.

Anyone else, or is it just you 4 on this forum?

Im not here to start trouble im collecting information from various web forums on this subject. As i have found several examples of deer being shot with a .20 cal and only one stating bullet choice.... so far.

I thought seeing as this web forum being called "DEER HUNTERS CLUB" i should be able to get unbiased information on the subject. I asume that deer hunters on this forum use .22 cal to kill deer. If they have used lighter weight bullets with success them it would safe to say the .20 cal could aslo be used.

Never have and never will. That is my honest answer. I also do not know any other hunter that would.

We all have our biases. The .22 has as much killing power as an arrow I would say generally. It is illegal in Arkansas so I have never used it. I know an old oil feild pumper that killed many deer, snake, etc with his .22 auto but I wouldn't recommend it.

I love what you did
I love what you did to this photo...beautiful! These old homes makes me wonder who lived there and what their lives were like. They must have loved flreows! The daffodils are still thriving. Have a wonderful weekend!
