This past week an oppertunity came up to purchase a couple of firearms from a neighbor. I've owned many Winchesters over the years but one that I always wanted was a 1892 in 25-20 cal. From the first time I read the Jim Jordan buck story back in the late 70's to mid 80's I just wanted to have one that matched the rifle that killed one of the all time greatest typical whitetails of all time. Look up the story of how Jim shot the buck, then lost it through many many years, and then two years after he passed away B&C officially ranked it #1. Jim shot that buck in 1914 in Wisconsin. Not until 1995 did Milo Hanson's buck surpass the Jordan buck. So, I didn't pass on the rifle and it is in great shape.
The second rifle is a single shot Browning High wall in 30-06 carring a big 4.5x14x50 Leupold scope also in great shape.
So now late in life, I am the proud owner of a Winchester model 1892 lever action in 25-20 caliber. Jim Jordan is to blame for my purchase and that is my story.HM
