6.5 as a deer rifle

Looking for a little insight. I am looking into buying a 6.5 creedmoor as a dedicated whitetail rifle. I've shot a .300 wsm for a number of seasons and am getting tired of the recoil and looking for something more friendly to shoot. My biggest concern with the 6.5 creedmoor is the knockdown power. Also, considering a 7mm rem mag. Any input and experience with the 6.5 as a deer rifle is greatly appreciated.
