Winchester 88

I had one and sold it and now getting the itch to get another one. Pre-64 of course. These had a few unfaithful writers giving them less than good accuracy reports, however, I found it to very respectable for most mid-west deer hunting situations. 308 win.

Getting the itch for a new shooting iron is way too common an affliction for me. Never had an interested in that rifle (wasn't that the one Teddy R used to take to Africa?) but my want=need list is otherwise long and glorious. And oddly, despite each one I acquire, the list doesn't get shorter....

I'm pretty sure Teddy used a Win model 1895 lever action in 405cal, could be wrong but it wasn't a model 88. The 88 is a nice balanced rifle and in 308. I'm always looking/wanting!

Always wanted a Win 88 carbine in 308

I don't think they ever made a pre 64 version of the Model 88 in a carbine so I would have to be happy with the post 64 version. I think that they balance really nice in the carbine version. The only issue I remember from handling them is the trigger is heavy, and not much can be done to improve it.
