burgerking a lot of people say to add a red dot scope bc it makes it some what easier to focus on what ur shooting, i would say it depends on the range your looking at. i have a regular 4-9 zoom on mine but i shoot well out to 100 yards, some people say thats too far with a shot gun but i have results to prove it to myself. So beyond 50-75 yards i would start looking towards a standard rifle/shotgun scope for better acuracy.

buckfever welcome to the forum julio. i dont hunt deer with a shotgun so i dont have one on mine, but my hunting buddies that do some of them have scopes on theres. they say they feel more comfortable shooting with a scope if they are getting out past 50 yds or so.

joel the signman one hour before sunrise gives the woods time to settle down from you walking in and getting set up.this way your ready the minute legal shooting time'll get a chance at the deer sneaking back into their beds and any latecomers to the woods will bump deer for ya

Shotgun Deer

In the southern coastal plains of NC where the swamps are many and the thick woods are all, buckshot have been used for many years. With autoloaders and pumps some of the load combinations are 4 buckshot what ever size, I prefer 00's if the gun patterns those the best, but the last shell being a slug. Reason being, running those big bucks with dogs, you probably get a shot in about a 2' opening and the deer running sometimes wide open. If the buckshot don't get him and you get an opening at 75 yds. the slug is there for backup.
