Hunting Man I use 90 grains without issues. You can reduce the powder or increase the patch thickness. You didn't indicate the ball size, ie 490-495?? Also, you may want to check the rifling in case there is a sharp edge or roughness that is tearing up the patch. 90 grains works for me with a .010 pre-lubed TC patch. What are you greasing the patch with?

Figuring out powder loads for traditional cap lock?

Hoping y'all could help me figure out the best way to "dial in" how much powder to use for my 50cal Traditions cap lock.

I'm using Goex Pinnacle and used 90gr recently and it completely obliterated the patch (but was pretty accurate at 15yds). :-)
