Pennsylvania Flintlock Season

Only three more days until it opens.... who's hunting it?
I think I have more fun during that season than any other.

I will leave for PA right after New Year for 6 days of hunting. I agree that flintlock hunting just may be my favorite hunting. I believe we will have 5 hunters in camp. I was able to secure 2 boxes of Hornady PA ballets in 50cal from Track of the Wolf. These bullets work perfect in slow twist barrels and don't use a patch. They are getting hard to come by so I will probably order two more boxes and that should last me for what ever years I have left to hunt.

My caliber of choice is .54 and I still shoot patched round balls. They've done the job just fine for anything that I hunted with them so far. No need to change now.

Boy I hate to even post this. For the first time in my flintlock hunting, I missed two dink shots. Why?? Well also for the first time I didn't hit the range to clean up my mechanics prior to heading to PA. I pulled both shots pretty bad. I had a great week with camp buddies but we didn't hang a single deer. We had great weather and I saw about a dozen deer with one legal buck. I did have a 4pt under my stand but couldn't put another point on to be legal. Great week, great friends, great weather, , no deer
