Hey, shotguns are a great deer getter, in my state of Ohio, they are required as no rifles are legal. Shotguns with rifled barrels are best. I have a Remington 870 scoped in 12 ga and use 3" sabot slugs. This rig will shoot 1.5"group from a rest as good as any 30-30 lever action rifle. Thanks for the question.
