Hide tanners wanted

Hello. Last year my brother and I harvested 5 deer. We had been skunked the previous 3 years so it was a nice change. Most of that had to do with a change in where we hunted. Can't give away our spot. I was able to harvest a 9 point and an 8 point while my brother got a small spike and 2 good sized does.

I had intended on tanning the hides myself (using youtube as my guide) but as life would have, and thanks to heavy workloads, I could not find the time to devote to this process. I have recently taken another job in the telecom industry and now have even less time, which worries me because now I don't even know if I will have time to hunt this year.

In any case, after each harvest I placed the cape (and sometimes the head since I was going to try brain tanning) into a heavy duty black garbage bag and put them into the freezer. I am not sure if they are still good or if extended freezing would compromise the skin to the point of ruin. They have been in there almost a year as our first harvest was around the first of November.

I am looking for someone who is adept at tanning capes with hide on as well as turning into buckskin. I know they can be pretty labor intensive and I got a price from a guy the other day and it seemed awfully expensive.

I would greatly appreciate if I could get some contacts of who might be able to do this as well as their rates.

Thank you.

My friend does all that stuff and it is quite a workload. Where is your area?
