January 21-23, 2011
Southern Alabama deer hunting at its finest!
Dixie Academy was established in 1966 as a non-profit, private school. Dixie Academy has excelled in education and athletics. Our deer hunt is one of the many important ways we earn money for our general fund.
About Your Hunt
You will have a guided hunt on privately owned land. The property you will be enjoying is primarily managed for the owners or hunting clubs personal hunting except for your weekend. The type of terrain you hunt will vary from clear-cut and replanted pines to farm land, hardwood bottoms, rye and wheat fields. You will be hunting in Barbour County, Bullock County, and Pike County. All three counties rank in the Top 10 deer hunting counties in Alabama. Thousands of deer are taken annually in each of these counties. The dates set for your hunt coincide with the peak rut in our area. Alabama's bag limit is one of the most liberal limits in the nation, so be sure to bring your big cooler to pack your venison. There will also be a free shoulder mount to the largest buck killed on the school hunt.
Schedule
Our starting point will be at Dixie Academy School in Louisville, Friday, January 21st at 10:00 a.m. Central time. There, you will team up with guides and acquire proper licensing. Your hunt will be two days, starting Friday afternoon on January 21st of 2011 and ending on Sunday morning the 23rd. Saturday will be morning and afternoon hunting.
