NH Youth opening day
 

was a bust
got 2 birds who communicated briefly but not interested as they were well hen'd up not much luck from most I talked to
well we will try again tomorrow

This may sound stupid but when I encounter any hen calling back to me I'll get her all ticked off and coming in to whip a hens tail then when she gets really close I will scare the crap out of her and make her fly off and far away. With that commotion any tom would like to respond to that and with that hen scared off it reduces the chance of him henning up on you. Just my .02 Good Luck to you tomorrow deputy.

Not one gobble or sighting this morning in WNY, 40 + mph winds till 10:00am, one of the worst openers in memory for me personally.
How did you guys do in NY?

TG Hens were not responding either
Yesterday went better but Dad (me) blew it
we went about 30 miles from home where the snow had left earlier then my town & had better luck they were at least responding she had a nice tom in her sights but seemed a liitle out of range for her so I did not let her take a shot as much as I want to see her get her first bird I also want it to be an ethical shot he ended up leaving before coming closer went & looked where the bird was standing & it was close to her effctive range so not I am a liitle upset with myself but we have a month to go but I told her she can blame me for that one also Ticks are out in full force already we brought home at least a dozen

If there's one "creature" I absolutely hate it's TICKS. One time while throwin hay bails when I was a teenager I stepped into a nest of ticks. That was not fun. Had about 100 on me all over my legs, jeans, shoes, socks, etc...

I wonder if frontline works on people too!! I would know if it would had been out when we were kids caz I know I would have just tested it out on my brother back then lol, what else are little brothers good for ?? Lol

Well opening day went better No birds taken but they are responding to calls very well just couldn't get them to move they all seemed to be held up. We have a new game plan for this weekend will see if it works
