pheasants

went out today its the opener.the public spots were packed 2 were so crowded the guys were waiting to go in.i went to a 3rd one and met a guy in the lot with a dog we paired up he got one bird and his dog busted another too far away for a shot .he left after an hour and a half so i went to a 4th spot saw a rooster on the road and some squirels out of range.bumped a huge deer but no pheasants.oh well this weekend me and my buddy are going and bringing the lab.they restock the birds friday night so hopefully we'll get a crack at some

Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison.
Genesis 27:3 "The thinking deer hunter should mature through three phases during his hunting life. First phase, "I need to kill a deer." Second phase, I want to harvest a nice deer. And last phase, we must manage this resource so our children and their children can experience the grand tradition of good deer hunting." - Jim Slinsky

Had a great season

My buddies and I went on our traditional, post Iraq deployment pheasant hunt in Lubbock and downed some good cocks! We totalled out with 26 birds in three days. The two GSPs we took out did a great job!!!(considering it was their first real hunt and they had been trained on qual) This is our second hunt and both have been really successful! I tried to add a photo but they're too big to upload.
