Sighting in a slug gun

Hi Folks: I'm Murffie, an elderly deer hunter from Minnesota (poor Vikings! Gophers! Timberwoofies!). Been hunting deer for some thirty years mostly with a Browning 30-06 semi. However, this year I am relegated to hunting closer in to Minneapolis. This is shotgun only territory. Picked up a Mossberg 500 12 Ga with rifled barrel. Am using Remington sabots. Had to replace the sights. Put on some Tru-Glow sights last night. Now I need to sight it in without going broke. Those sabots are $$$. Can anyone help me? Tried this a.m. at an indoor range and cant seem to get the sight to adjust very well. Murf.

Is a scope an option? I have the same gun and have used it Ohio for many years. I use a 1x3 power and leave it on the lowest setting. Winshester BRI 3' sabotts work the best. (I tried them all). Get it on paper at 25yrds. A little high is okay. Then 50 then 100yrds. Leave it dead on at 100yrds and you'll be deadly anywhere from 50 yrds to 100yrds. You'll shoot over them at 25 yrds.

Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison.
Genesis 27:3 "The thinking deer hunter should mature through three phases during his hunting life. First phase, "I need to kill a deer." Second phase, I want to harvest a nice deer. And last phase, we must manage this resource so our children and their children can experience the grand tradition of good deer hunting." - Jim Slinsky

Tried the earlier advice on 25 and 50 yards over the weekend. Then went to a range and gunsmith and had a red dot put on with a rail. Not too expensive. Three shots and zeroed. Gunsmith says that the open sights I had purchased were not for a Mossberg even though the packaging said they were. Wrong height on the ramp. Good hunting to all and thanks.
