Further off-topic, but after I had my insurance updated and an appraisal done on my collection I realized that it's time to speak to the kids & sons-in-law, and think ahead for the grands too. I know for a fact that none have the interest I do in guns and might as well let them select the ones they will use (eventually) and let the others be sold when I'm gone. There's no way they can store and care for them all and it simply needs to be done, sooner rather than later now. My favorites may not be ones they would prefer after all.....

I know it's off topic too but my nephews and older sons are into football, baseball but my youngest son has a heart condition where he is not aloud to play contact sports and it kills him. He is only 6 and I tell him all the time he can have his own hunting show, he has more gun awareness and hunting knowledge than any teen or child I have come in contact with. ( so proud )

Back on topic though, my savage 99 has a counter on the side which I have read can increase the value a little more or lower the value. (not sure which one it does)

Generally speaking the 99's with the brass counters bring a better value vs the later aluminum ones.

Turner, my Dad had a few guns in his collection, so while he was still alive he called my brother and me over to take over his collection. He had us pick a card from a deck to start. I have a son and daughter so it will either be the guns or an equal money share but I will have it worked out hopefully prior to my demise. My son does enjoy hunting so he will get the lion share. Daughter would probably take the money!

You can try to contact H&R I don't know if they will even have any info on it but it is worth a try

I tried to contact winchester about my daughters Ranger 120 shotgun & they could not locate 1 person there that ever heard of it & it was made somewhere in the 70's - 80's
