That weight wouldn't cut it hunting here in the Montana Rockies. My Rem. 700 Mountain Rifle weighs just a little over seven pounds with a 3-9 scope, but that sounds like it could be a great deer rifle in the east... or some place that's flat.

The DPMS Compact Hunter 308 is 7.75lbs. Pretty good looking rifle too.

Looks like it will be a wile before i get one of these. i have the carbine stock and want to keep it that way. so i wont be getting one of these till i get a new lower. and i wont be getting a new lower till after i get the new upper, and a real nice scope on it.
