Default Weird Growth on Deer

I hunt in alabama and for the past few years I have seen some gray growths on several deer.. They kinda look like warts. Anyone else ever seen anything like that? anyone know what causes it? And is it safe to eat a deer that has this?

You know what I just seen that on The Outdoor Channel. The show with Stan Potts, I can't think of the name. But it was a segment called "candid whitetails" where they show photos and videos of deer from hunters across the country. This one came from a guys trail-cam and it showed a doe with a whole bunch of bubble type blisters or clusters all over the hide. But whatever it was they claimed that the stuff caused no health concerns to the deer or humans. I'll send you a PM when I recall it or find it online.

Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison.
Genesis 27:3 "The thinking deer hunter should mature through three phases during his hunting life. First phase, "I need to kill a deer." Second phase, I want to harvest a nice deer. And last phase, we must manage this resource so our children and their children can experience the grand tradition of good deer hunting." - Jim Slinsky
