I usually take a break before the other hunters start coming back into the woods 1:00-1:30
Like HM stated during the Rut I try to stay all day
Like we try to pattern deer they will do the same I have seen a lot of deer when most hunters leave for lunch but try to get back before they do & start moving the deer around

I'll have to second the above. Seems to fit the times best for hunting here in Central Texas. Times do change a bit during the full moon though. Deer seem to be more active in the middle of the night and around mid-day. (but I can't hunt after dark)

"Now my Son and I have our sandwiches, twinkies, hohos, and rice crispy bars to keep us going all day. Only the best health food for Deer hunting is allowed."
About fell out my chair laughing when I read that line . . . that was a good one.

I don't leave until legal shooting hours are over. As another poster stated, I too have killed deer mid day.

One point about mid-day hunting

I have never seen a Deer mid-day that wasn't spooked on high alert. Someone or something had it moving and it wasn't comfortable staying where it was. That is why I try to hang in there all day, you never know when you may have a chance at a shot.
