Once more I am skunked, oh well

I was out this weekend for the Minnesota Deer opener and my Son and I returned without firing a shot. Our 30-06s were dialed in and ready, the Nosler 165gr BTs in the chambers were ready to do their part. To bad the Deer Bucks didn't decide to mosey by where we were sitting for 8 hours each day. We did have the option of taking a normal size Doe the first morning but held out for the chance at something with horns. I did get the privilege of spending two wonderful days in the woods with my 16 year old Son. I just wish he would have been offered a shot a Buck....Maybe next year!!!

Yep, it happens from time to time but like you said you got to spend time with your son and that is all that really matters.

Like TG said it is time well spent with your son. Just one weekend to hunt? That makes it tough to score a deer.

Yea the only Buck we saw was in the headlights on the highway heading up north. My Son had thought I fell asleep at the wheel and almost grabbed the wheel as I swerved around the Deer using the Emergency lane. It just kept walking slowly across the north bound lanes. I just wanted him to keep walking and I was able to steer around him stopping was out of the question.

I feel you sir.. I sat till 12 noon on the dot last Saturday and did not see the first deer..

Hopefully you get some more time in the woods with your son..

Like the others have said . . . . spending time with your son is just as important, if not more so, than shooting anything.
