7mm rem mag rifle? Ok I'm needing for help. I'm looking at a Browning Xbolt Hunter or a Winchester Model 70 Sporter? Which would be the best? Browning XBLT Hunter 7MM magazine SAT SHIPS FREE WGUN 535108230 M70 SPRTR 7MM REM $725.00 SHIPS FREE |
Or if you have another suggestion for a 7mm rem mag that would be appreciative. I would like to stay in the same price range though with a 26' barrel. |
26" barrel is a lot of barrel and you may of wished that you got something shorter. However, I would vote for the Browning just slightly over the Win model. |

Well, I've heard to take full advantage of the 7mm mag you need a least a 26' barrel. |
My guess is the extra barrel length will only net you 100-150 fps but the trade off is a much easier handling rifle especially if used out west in the mountains where every ounce reduced is a bonus. My Weatherby's have the 26" barrels and I just don't care for them. Maybe if I was just sitting in a blind but to carry through the woods, not for me. Good luck on your purchase! |
I would double check on their Company websites... I always thought that the default barrel length for both magnum Winchesters and Brownings was 24 inches. Weatherby was always the weirdo with LONG 26 inch barrels. The Ruger Number 1s were always special in that they had 26 inch barrels but the same overall length due to the short action length. Karl |
Wrong again, oh well I went and checked their Company websites and the 7mm Mags are equipted with 26 inch barrels. I really wouldn't want to be carrying them through the woods that I hunt. I guess they are trying to get all the speed they can out of the cartridge. Karl |

Congratulations, now what scope???? Please let us know what you place on it for a scope, and how well it shoots. Are you hunting where things are really open, or do you just like your bullets really moving? Karl |
I will be hunting in a clearing, so the extra 2" isn't going to bother me. |
