Trade it in and most times you'll get robbed. Put a picture in our classifieds and see if you draw any buyers. For a bolt gun you can't beat a Rem model 700 in your budget range. Sounds like a 243, 300 sav, 260 rem would fit your needs.

Ok so ive been looking and found a few guns i like so far in a good price range but im having trouble finding anything left handed in my price range! I really wanted a mossberg 100atr but i cant seem to find any left handed models even from the companys website. I did a google search and found savage seems to be great for the left handed/ price range but they dont have the axis in left hand so the next one would have to be the model 11 FLNS. Any body have any other suggestions on left handed rifles that wont kill the banks??

.243 is a good rifle for deer.

I would go with the 243 its a great caliber and a large variety of ammunition.

I know I'm old school but for deer & black bear hunting the Savage 99's are hard to beat. Prices for the 300 sav can still be very easy on the budget. The 300 sav shoots like a 243 but is a 30 cal. Modern 150 gr bullets can be pushed to just over 2600 fps accurate out to a max of about 300 yds. I'm not recoil sensitive, and would rate the recoil on the 300 sav as very light, mild. Something to consider.

Hunting Man beat me to the rifle I was thinking about. I'm also left handed and use the Savage Model 11 (or 111) in .270. Savage makes a great rifle and has many different calibers to choose from. Savage Arms > Firearms > Browse Models Here's a website to check out the different models to choose from.

If you have problems with the recoil, have you thought about using a recoil pad??? Limbsaver makes a great slip on pad that SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the recoil that you feel when squeezing the trigger. I had to get one a rifle I have in .300 Savage.

There are many different options available to you. Keep all your options open until you've had a chance to mull them all over and make an informed decision. The you have to get yourself a camera to show us what you decided on. <grin>

I have looked around and found savage to be the best price for what i can spend. I am in the middle of talking to a guy about a trade for my 270 for a left handed savage model 11 in 270. I think the recoil can be tamed but the left handed shooting wont be untill i get the right rifle!

i got a savage model 11 243 after 6 shots of sighting it in out of the box i put a grop of 3 in about the size of a penny

(make shure it has the the bushnell scope on it)
