There are times when there is nothing better than a 30-30, 32 win special, 35 rem, especially in close dense woods, swamp conditions, when visibility is low.

Thumbs up .30-30 Fan

I've been using a Marlin 336C in .30-30 for over 25 years and love it. If your longest shots are in the 150 yard range like you said, then I can't see any reason for switching. Over the years, with the possible exception of the .30-06, Marlin .30-30s have probably taken more game than any other caliber. I'd say save the money, you're already set!

Thanks friends, I was somewhat surprised to see so many of you mention Marlin 336 because that is what I have. I can't complain about anything with it, If I knew more about shooting maybe I would understand what ya'll mean about the trigger. We (Me & the Marlin) have not missed a deer yet and all the shots have hit where I was aiming. The deer I have shot have all ran less than 30 yds. before falling except one. Like many of you have said, another gun won't kill a deer any deader. Thanks for your wisdom, Charlie
