Try Simmonds, Tasco, Pine ridge through Cabelas, for your scope.

I believe that you can't go wrong with Remington core lokt ammo. It has been serving hunters for decades. With a little shopping I think you can still find it for $15.00 a box on sale.

I'll second what su106 & HM have already said. I have one rifle with a Tasco 3x9x40 scope and have successfully hunted with it for several years. As for hunting with Core Lokt ammo -- That's all I use.

SKS -- 7.62x39? Go to Cabelas.com. I just looked at their catalog and found some in that caliber for around $13 for a box of 20. (Not Core-Lokt, but still a reputable brand.)

I've had bad experiences with cheap tasco's.

Try this scope (and hurry up because they will sell out fast!) - Bushnell Banner Rifle Scope 3-9x 40mm Multi-X Reticle Matte - MidwayUSA EDIT: was $40 but is back up to the normal price of $80.

For ammo I would take these Federals (I've seen deer fall to this power shock stuff like it was hit with a sledgehammer, in 30-06 though) - Federal Power-Shok Ammunition 7.62x39mm Russian 123 Grain Soft Point Box of 20 - MidwayUSA

If I was going to go with a Tasco it would probably have to be one of their "World Class Series" scopes...they aren't too expensive and they have good reviews.

I'd probably go with this one...Tasco World Class Rifle Scope 3-9x 40mm Mil-Dot Reticle Matte - MidwayUSA
