Man, I was looking for more back up! I'm not sure I've ever heard a worse suggestion than that one, on archery shots. I know if you catch the main artery in the hind quarter they bleed out pretty quickly, but to suggest that as a primary target, somethings wrong here! Gives all hunters a bad reputation if advise is followed. In getting mad at the post, I probably misread the between the eyes shot with archery, he may be suggesting gun shot and then hip shot for archery but in any case the whole post stinks.

Are you kidding me? Nobody should ever attempt shots that try to shoot anything between the eyes.
AND a Hip shot at 30 yards? that's another piece of very poor advice.
I agree with huntingman, poor advice isnt what we should be promoting.

okay more backing.

there are enough things that go wrong even when trying to do things text book, so starting off with very iffy, unethical (because there is a very good chance of only wounding and not recovering), is wrongheadedness. what is wrong with passing a bad shot? nothing passing a bad shot shows more self-discipline, a stronger moral character, and more wisdom. most moral and ethical hunters will be more proud of someone that passes a bad shot than if they shot a record buck in the hip, tracked it for miles in warm weather, only to recover it days later by the smell and circling buzzards.

a guy try to finish a doe off with a bow, that was hit by a car. he tried to shoot it between the eyes. the arrow went in the eye and didn't finish the deer. now the thing is thrashing around, stove up from the car, with an arrow sticking out of its eye. so someone ended up hitting it in the head with an eswing. that put the poor thing out of its misery.

promoting such behavior is, well there are so many words that come to mind but i'll just say, wrong. i don't want a guy that promotes such a thing in the woods hunting and for sure nowhere around me.

Default moronic

obviously your are more concerned with killing than actually hunting.a hunter waits for a proper high percentage killing shot.what you are saying is you will take any shot before you let the animal pass.thats not hunting.advocating head shots and hind quarters shots with a bow is for lack of a better word STUPID.I seen some bowhunters like this take any shot look for the deer for 30 mins not find it then they sleep like a baby.makes me sick.

This type of activity would surely lead to many wounded animals. Even Robin Hood couldn't make that shot very often and unless shooting straight down the arrow would simply slice along the scull and cut only skin then bounce off. The more I write the more mad I'm getting so I'll stop here.
I hear that HM......

The ONLY time i have ever had to make a head shot, was to finish a doe off that my buddies daughter had hit mid stomach. And yes i hunt, but i dont like seeing ANY animal suffer. and a 180 gr. .40 S&W HP put her down pretty quickly. But for somebody to come on here, and say that he would rather place one between the eyes, makes me pretty fried. I've done some stuff in my life that i live with on a daily basis. and for somebody to say that, i hope DNR catches your sorry butt. its people like that that ruin it for those of us that are ETHICAL hunters. i think ill stop typing before i have a coronary....

WHAT? no tail shots? LOL

Suggesting a shot between the eyes thats some pretty poor advice right there and a Hip shot too boy you're just full of bad choices.

Sorry I've been away riding my horse in the mountains, but I would have been all over this one a lot sooner. Not to waste anyone's time repeating what's been said, but Hunting Man, Bruce and Ronn nailed this down pretty well. Bad advice just doesn't cut it on this site - that's not what it's all about, and more importantly it's not what ethical hunting is about either!!!!!!! Now I'm getting worked up too.
