First rifle I ever bought was a Marlin 336 in 30/30. Brought down quite a few deer over the years with it. Am trying the Model 7400's older cousin this year, a Remington Model 740 in .244 caliber. No, that's not a typical graphical error there. That's right, I said .244. It just never caught on like the .243 did years ago. Now the round is sold as 6mm Remington. It's hotter than a .243 leaving the barrel at a screaming 3100 fps.

The 740 is as old as I am. My grandfather bought it the year I was born. Can't wait to see how well it works on a deer!

yeah rdrader i cant blame my wife for buying me a gun with a plastic trigger. my uncle had the same gun and i always noticed how accurate he was with it. so she told me the price range for my christmas present so i picked that gun. i never had noticed before about the trigger. i still like the gun and use it during gun season. its very accurate. it is just remingtons cheapest gun they made. i hear this year they came out with model 770 which is another cheap gun from remington. i read a write up on it (the 770) in a magazine and the author said though the gun may be cheap and the trigger assembly not to his liking he still got accurate groups out of it.

its all good as long as he lets me hunt his land if we ever get the time to go visit them in texas. the land of the small bodied deer with the massive racks.
