Rut is soon

The rut is fixing to start here in my parts. I was happily surprised when I found 22 scrapes down an old road made by the logging company a few years ago. I have never seen that many in a row or that close together. Hunted hard last week but didn't see any bucks. I know where the does are bedding and know the trails they travel. I think its only a matter of time now. My grandfather has seen two shooters recently but in his old age wasn't quick enough to get a good shot on them so he didn't fire. The weather just changed and got cold and I'm excited for the weekend. I ve killed four bucks the last four years on this property and the biggest scored 122. Excitement and anticipation from Mississippi. Ill let ya ll know how it goes.

Good Luck to you Beaux...

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the outcome of the vote.

I'm like you the rut is the best time to run into mr.big. Having your granpa hunting has to be especially good, lock away the memories. Dood luck to you!

good luck to ya our second rut is getting ready to bust open

Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison.
Genesis 27:3 "The thinking deer hunter should mature through three phases during his hunting life. First phase, "I need to kill a deer." Second phase, I want to harvest a nice deer. And last phase, we must manage this resource so our children and their children can experience the grand tradition of good deer hunting." - Jim Slinsky

Well I cant seem to see a buck but I keep finding the sign. I talked my dad into hunting yesterday, told him it was middle of the rut and i got a good spot for him. He killed an 8 point about four thiry. Since I was about thirteen i ve cleaned every deer that has been killed between us. This one was not different. I cant set myself up, but maybe I should open up a guiding service.
