Ok everyone it's SHOOTING TIME

I don't know about everyone else, but it is time to get to the range for some practice shooting. All the things that have gotten in the way of range trips have now been re-prioritized downward.

Have fun and be safe.....

yup, I've got that shooting feeling too, mostly black powder to sight in but also two rifles to check. I think the sawed ribs can handle the recoil now.

The deer rifles were neglected all summer...

I was able to get out with guys that I am on the Fire Department with several times this summer but we just shot handguns. I did zero a co-workers scoped Ruger 1022 and his scoped Ruger 556VT last week. The jury is still out on the Ruger piston ARs with me. I really want to pick up one of the Colt 6920 M4 Magpul additions to have. It is a DI system on that one instead of the piston system Ruger uses. Sir Hunting Man be very careful and stay very far away from big THUMPERS. Black powder should be a long push as long as the bullet isn't to heavy.

Range practice time? Heck, it's already deer season here. We do sight-ins and load tweaking in June and July. August 01 starts bucks-only season until Sept 15 when it shifts to "any deer" until Dec 31. Subsistence users even get a little longer opening!

Alaska- it must be nice....

I have been watching the Kodiac Beer hunting on the cable and it must be somethng very special up there. I am amazed at the crappy shots some of the hunters are. You would think if you are spending masive amounts to hunt big Brown Bears on Kodiac you would be comfortable shooting your rifle. Also some of the hunters are so out of shape that they see bears and pass up the chance to haul butt and go after them.

It is sad. But it's rough terrain up here and it sucks the life out of you quickly. There aren't many "easy" walks.

watching the tv show Alaska the last frontier, and the terrible shots they take make ethical hunters look bad. The show on bear hunting resulted in a lost wounded bear. The shots looked like 4-5 hundred yds straight uphill. Very hard to watch. I have a Nordic track coming just to help me get into shape for deer hunting here in the mid-west. I would love to hunt Alaska but time has probably passed me by for that.

It is a really nice discussion. I too got hunting feeling, sometime I also like archery hunting instead of shotgun or rifle.
