Well, except for the rest of you that are just remembering that there actually IS
a winter season in Amercia, we've actually had a mild winter. Which means spring black bear will be appearing sooner than normal. Ah, the age old question, which rifle to get ready?!?
I had a custom .338-06 built awhile back, but my reloading stuff is still in boxes and I don't have enough rounds to sight in the scope and take Mr. Bear cleanly. And you can't find .338-06 commercial ammo anymore short of a new mortgage. Used the .30-06 last time, with 180-gr Speer Grand Slams and it worked like a charm. Love that bullet! But am thinking this year will be the stainless 7mm Rem Mag Ruger M77 Mk.II with boat paddle all-weather stock, and a 175-gr Speer Grand Slam load or else PPI's 158-gr "Thunder" ("Grom") load, which is suppsed to be very good also. The Serbs load ammo hotter than American companies do, and this almost-solid core copper bullet looks interesting.
Anybody have any experience with this load: Rifle Ammunition
