| i have posted on here before in the bow section because i only use bow when hunting, but i am interested in getting the remington 700 sps varmint .308 for target shooting and to get a feel for long range shooting. i have looked at as many forums as i could find about this weapon and they all say it's a good rifle to start with and to upgrade. the main thing is the butt stock (cheap). i would like some opinions. |

| the sps is a fair hunting rifle but if you are looking for a long range rifle there are better platforms to choose form. Rem makes a good one its a 700 but I can't remember what its called. I have one in 22.250. Savage makes one called the long range something or other, with the accutrigger that's a good choice. Shepherd scopes.com shows a guy shooting a deer at over a thousand yards using the savage in .308. sps is more of a utility type rifle. I would suggest that you research very carefully before you buy. just my opinion |
