Thunder and steel
Another nice article Mike...
Keep up the good work Mike, well done...
Great article. While I have 3, 270WM in the MV series I have no doubt the recoil has to be stout in the 340. I've shot 300 WM and that was enough for me, in fact I thought the recoil was worse in the 300 than the 338 win. My buddy in PA uses the 340 for elk.
All you Magnum shooters are tougher that I am
I agree that none of us feel recoil when shooting at an animal. Having said that I for one sure feel it at the shooting bench. I have helped Magnum rifle shooters get their rifles dialed in that were flinching bad from recoil. It hurt to watch their eyes after a while. My Elk guide said the 338 Win Mag was perfect for Elk IF you can shoot it. I am sure that he felt the same way about the Weatherby 340. He said that he would rather have clients show up with a standard rifle they can shoot over a Magnum they can't. He preached a bad hit on a animal is a bad hit even with a Magnum.
