I have been given a very nice large desk that my goal is to set it up for reloading bench work. For those experienced reloaders what woudl be an ideal bench/desk to work from/on. height desk size ect. This is a very nice heavy solid cherry large desk with oak veneers in the drawers. Can it be made into a usable reloading work bench? Thanks for your experienced input.

If you like to sit and reload like me it will probably need not modification as to height just mount your press so you can open the drawers. Learned this the hard way myself.

Sounds like an awful nice desk to be drillin holes in to mont a press, grins. But hey whatever. Just make sure you have plenty of room. Nothin worse than being cramped when tryin to work.

I don't mind drilling into free, but I didn't want to destroy it if it wouldn't make a nice reloading station. It measures 36 X 71 top surface, lots of space to set stuff on. Thanks for the comments.

If the height is wrong you could by an adjustable stool(mechanics stool). Thats what i did and it works great.

that will make a great work bench mine is only 32x54 and i feel a bit cramped sometimes

can't think of why it would not work, I use an old government issue steel and formica desk (mounting the presses was a pain in the backside but once done, it works pretty good. I have a friend that uses an old wooded door set on cinder blocks. as long as it is stable, it will work. my desk is a little light and the force I use to resize brass would make it tip a little, so I drilled a hole at the back and mounted an eye bolt facing down, filled a 5 gallon bucket with cement and put a thin cable that was tack welded on one end to a piece of steel at the bottom under the cement, the other end of the cable is cinched up to the eye bolt, the desk has not moved since. I have an old lee single stage and a lee progressive mounted to it
