African Americans for Obama

tomlightfield 05-02-2012 03:14 PM

Tator, you could go on and on and on 'til your beard (and mine) are 4 feet long along this tangent my friend, and the bottom line is we would still be at fault. Oh yeah, I've thought MANY times about stuff like the NAAWP, let's have white only colleges(like Grambling, let's have Whiteling) and oh yeah, White History Month too!! Are you kiddin'? We'd be gettin' visits from the Secret Service like Ted Nugent did. Know what, I actually felt half ass decent 'til I read your post, now I have to retire to my garage so I can throw something, then I'll be OK.

There is no such thing as an African American. ether your African, or your American. you can not be both. i have several black friends who will correct people who call them "African Americans". it gets to the point were things ar so PC, that they become offensive. being black dont make them any less American, so why the extra country name to there title? its BS.

Well not to start a whole thread on racial issues but I recently pointed out to Vermonts Governor that when a state allows public colleges to accept funds from the "UNCF, (united negro college fund)
or similar race/gender funds, it only supports division and racism not to mention it discriminates against all other races!
Private schools have the ability to choose who they should accept funds from but
I don't think Public colleges or state universities should be allowed to accept any funds from any gender or race specific funding.
The following quote is why I included gender specific, it's because females of "Other" races don't qualify, it isn't right and hopefully someone will address and end those kind of discriminating practices.

"African American Women
African-American women have any number of collegiate scholarship opportunities. Women of all backgrounds are being buoyed up in the college realm, both as undergraduate and graduate level.

African-American women, like their white, Asian, Native American, and Hispanic counterparts, are often uniquely positioned to be eligible for intended scholarships and grants. The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. maintains two scholarship programs, each awarded annually to young black women pursuing undergraduate studies.

African-American women should also explore our College Scholarships for Women for further opportunities."

Good point and info Bruce. I worked in the same housing projects for years with several black guys and we became pretty good friends after seeing each other for 15 or 16 years. Two of them are brothers(both class AA brick masons) and they still stop by me now and then to have a beer with me and catch up. My point being, these guys have absolutely no use for the "black this and black that" special interest stuff, they do what the rest of us do, the best they can for their families.

As many of you know (and I'm sure you are the same way) I am the farthest thing from being "racist". I hate the word and I can not stand someone using it loosely.

My problem with this video is simple. To me, this is racism by our President. I'm not saying that he can't celebrate his ethnicity, I'm calling this "commercial" what it is, a call to only one of MANY races in this country to rally behind him. I don't agree with that morally at all.

Now, to prove my point, I would feel the EXACT same way if Mitt Romney did this same thing. It would be wrong in every sense.

America is a great country and it's great because we have gotten past all of our slavery issues in the past and all the tension between different races - for the most part. I'm aware there are still people out there who feel strongly about other races. My suggestion to them is simple, get over it. America is great because of our diversity. We have different cultures and different races that build America up and make her strong. I don't like a candidate,,, let alone our in-office PRESIDENT,,, calling for a rally of only ONE race to band together around him. That is completely NOT what our country stands for. Now, if his video was targeted towards ALL Americans to rally and band together around him, that would ok, in my eyes.

Finally, I do not like his way of smooth talking socialism on Americans. This whole "even the playing field" stuff is NOT what our AMERICA is founded upon. I completely agree with helping your neighbors and helping those in need- especially children- but when there are lazy Americans (white, brown, black, yellow and red- ALL RACES) who sit around all day doing nothing- why should my hard earned money go to them? Why? So that they can live a comfortable life? They are the ones who chose to sit at home and do nothing, not me. They are the ones who chose to splurg too much to the point of bankruptcy, they are the ones who lost their job because of bad attendance or performance, they are the ones who committed the crimes, they are the ones who are here illegally.... WHY should my hard earned money go to them? That's the one question I'd like to sit this President down and ask. Why? What makes you think that that is fair? and HOW?! Plain and simply, it's not.

So you see, my problem with this is NOT racism or racist at all. I'm neither. I know and respect many people of different race than I am. I live next to, go to church with, work with and talk to on a daily basis people who are of different race than me. I have no problem with your skin color, I don't care about that- in my eyes, ALL humans are equal in worth to God. But giving my money away to people who take handouts because they are too lazy to go find a job or save their money? I don't care what race you are, it's not happening.

My god i went thru 23,000$ keeping custody of my daughter but is that anybodies else's problem but mine.Should i have thrown a benefit to get the money back? Its a lazy shallow society we live in today.Dont get me wrong i have nothing against them for terminal children etc, but i feel people get way carried away.

Honestly spiker, if you got yourself fired from your job, and had DFS called on you about 12 times, you'd have 10x more than you have now. That's the way America is going and headed thanks to Obama.

Here's another sad thing that parents are doing these days.... Ever sit back and notice how many kids are getting diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, Defiant disorder, Bi-polar, etc....??? Well I personally know of parents who PUSH their dr's to diagnose this and when it happens, they start collecting BIG time for their child's """DISABILITY""" Makes me want to PUKE.:yucky:

We could easily go on and on all day long about this because it's real and continues to fester daily but we shouldn't stop even if our best choice becomes the next president
it isn't going to mean squat if we don't stay after him too, to make sure these sort of things are addressed and corrected.
