Default New Knife

With a little polishing to do this is yesterday's project. My son gave me what I believe is zerkote (spell)? wood for the front and a bit of the rosewood left over from the Winchester gun purchase block. The steel is Japanese damascas. I have some high figured walnut for the English blades coming in, I like the look of the walnut with the heavy damascas English blades.

As always, very nice. I like the way you are mixing the woods and adding touches like the striped spacers and mosaic pins.

Just curious, what do all your friends and family think of your new hobby. It's pretty cool to be turning out quality knives like those. Is it a surprise to them?

I think my daughter is the most surprised. My son always expects perfection from me so they are never perfect to him. However, he wants to make a knife for all his groomsmen for his July wedding. He has done 1 so far and I guided him through how I've been doing them. Most of his buddies are all hunters so it would be a unique gift and very personal one. Some of my co-workers have been blown away in all honesty with the wood choises. One of the English blades is going to wear a set of high end walnut scales I found in the pile the other day. I may get two sets from it but like most things in life there wasn't enough for me. This stuff not only looks 3D but has stuff going in every direction. I hope I can do it justice. DVW, do you make all the fish blades you do or is there a sight to purchase them. I want to make a set using some birdseye maple in a long and short model. I found a damascas blade but pretty pricey.

Some of my fish blades are purchased and some are made from scratch. Checkout out these finished blades.

Thanks! I did a sharp finger knife today using olive wood. I'll get a picture posted later. Tired now it's 1;15am.
