Default What kind of cat (panther maybe?)

So I was out Saturday morning and saw some tracks that usually aren't seen around here. They were HEAVY tracks too. Now I'm right in middle Georgia on the west so no bears and no heavy cats, maybe a bobcat here and there.

I attachd the picture and I get a weird feeling its a panther. They aren't from around here, but in 2008 someone did kill one in the same county, about 15 miles from my spot. Thing is, it wasn't just the one big one I have posted. The next day I saw at least one more set that looked like it could have been cub.

Let me know what you think? For reference they are about the size of my hand minus the fingers.

I have a third one but it wont upload

Yeah I'm curious because I've never seen anything out that would make this print. I think i'll be carrying my 45 to the stand for comfort in case something I dunno sneaks out on me on my way.

Interesting article I found on this topic.

Canine vs. Feline Tracks - How to tell the difference between them.

After checking that out Im wondering if its a dog of some sort?

going by the web page BF posted it looks like a canine print which can be several types of animals. I don't think it's a panther because of the single hump of the rear pad. Just a guess though.

I considered this about cat tracks to, since they usually only have claws out when being defensive or predatorial. But if its a dog its huge. One of my labs is 80 pounds and his paws aren't quite that size. Thanks for the comments and i'll keep everyone updated if I see what it really is.

Are the tracks in a straight line or staggered? I was guessing a fox.

deff nota cat track, you wont ever see the claws in a cat print unless their runing and loosing traction, i dont know how big your hand his but id say the print of a great dane is bigger than that so either a loose dog or a hybrid dog/coyote
