That would take up some space in the freezer. HM I know you go to pa, but do you hunt Ohio? I've seen some MONSTER bucks that have come out of Ohio.

Ohio does have some monster deer taken every year. This is mostly on private land, but a few nice bucks are also shot on state lands. Ohio is a tough place to hunt if you don't have private property to hunt. Heavy hunter numbers on state land make it too crouded for me. I have hunted southern Ohio for late season black powder with very limited success. We did have a guy at work take a 10 pt in SE Ohio last fall going there for the first time! Deer numbers continue to climb every year.

How hard is it to get on private land? Can you knock on doors and get permission? or is almost all the land tied up in hunting leases? Ohio is one of those states that the QDMA is working with CoOps isn't it? 10 landowners with 25 acres each getting together and doing good things for the deer.

ronn a lot of the farm land in NW Ohio around me is tough to get permission on, farmers tend not to want to deal with hunters anymore. I really don't know about Se Ohio, I haven't really tried. I got spoiled in PA not on big bucks just friends/camp and a lot of deer. Now with the chance on a nice buck in PA and joining the new club my Ohio hunting probably won't increase any. What about you? You're traveling to shoot a big buck are there no oppertinities around the old stomping grounds? That's some mega $ for deer hunting you're shelling out. I hope it results in a real wall hanger. I guess I've been content to fill a tag and spend time with old friends every year. I wouldn't mind shooting a +150" trophy someday.

With this open land thing Hunting clubs don't really exist around here. We have a few BIG deer but the success rate is like 10% and most of the, the highest %, of bucks taken are 1.5 years old. we just don't have the numbers of deer. I think we got some where around 12 feet of snow fall this last year, yeah thats above the average, but we can lose 25% of the deer pop in any given winter. Our state records are only average for in that area of the country. This is one of those once in a life time type hunts for me. there is no way i could spend that kind of money every year. I'm trying to get to the point where I only take a mature deer but that means I could go without for several years in a row. I know it would be good for the deer if everyone only took mature deer but the odds of that happening are slim.

beside's Ronn your doing your part as a patriotic American and spending money to help out the economy  Yeah thats the ticket .I think i should also help the economy out,im going to the adirondacks for the early bow season on september 27th
