Cabin and hunting camp
 

Here are two photo's of the Michigan log cabin and one photo of the PA hunting camp.

Man that is pretty. Love that front porch. Which one is the one you built or did you do both of them?

Ditto, that is really nice, and you cut and hewn the logs yourself. How long did it take you to build it?

Thanks guys. I built the Michigan log cabin by hand using all red oak logs and my trusty Stihl chain saw. The PA hunting camp was built mostly by the hunting group I belong to.Now you know why this body is nearly broken down. The 40' oak logs were all hand drawn to remove the bark which was so much fun. I used a tripod to raise the logs into place with a chainfall. Took almost 5 years to complete.

Do you still get up to that Michigan cabin? its a real shame if you don't. I'd like about 5 of those scattered around the country. oh say VA, Iowa, Montana, NM, KY and Alaska or BC. I know thats more than 5.

This may sound crazy but we sold the cabin because we wern't using it enough to justify keeping it. The PA camp allows me to enjoy a cabin like feeling but will never replace the cabin. If I could go back a few years and re-think it I probably would have kept it. The wife and I had plans to build a log home but from a kit. That didn't happen, and life goes on.
