Man that is pretty. Love that front porch. Which one is the one you built or did you do both of them? |
pretty nifty huntingman. very nice job. |
Ditto, that is really nice, and you cut and hewn the logs yourself. How long did it take you to build it? |

man thats sweet all that's missing is me on the rocking chair out front talking bout the days hunt with ya:whistling: |
Thanks guys. I built the Michigan log cabin by hand using all red oak logs and my trusty Stihl chain saw. The PA hunting camp was built mostly by the hunting group I belong to.Now you know why this body is nearly broken down. The 40' oak logs were all hand drawn to remove the bark which was so much fun. I used a tripod to raise the logs into place with a chainfall. Took almost 5 years to complete. |
Do you still get up to that Michigan cabin? its a real shame if you don't. I'd like about 5 of those scattered around the country. oh say VA, Iowa, Montana, NM, KY and Alaska or BC. I know thats more than 5. |
This may sound crazy but we sold the cabin because we wern't using it enough to justify keeping it. The PA camp allows me to enjoy a cabin like feeling but will never replace the cabin. If I could go back a few years and re-think it I probably would have kept it. The wife and I had plans to build a log home but from a kit. That didn't happen, and life goes on. |
Great looking place you have there. |
