Short PA rifle season this year..... I decided to hunt a club property that I've only flintlock hunted in the past. I got there & parked my truck at about 5:50 am yesterday. I had to walk about half to three quarter of a mile to get in to my spot. On the way in, I spooked some deer & heard them crash off, then blow at me. I went the last couple hundred yards to my spot & sat down. Within twenty minutes to half an hour I started seeing deer. I lost track of how many, but there were close to a dozen before I saw antlers. The first buck (a 3 pointer) came in behind me & went within about 10 yards without noticing me. About five minutes later a bigger buck followed the same route, but didn't make it past. At 7:35 am opening day my PA buck hunting was over for this year. Now, I'm looking forward to the flintlock season that starts the day after Christmas.
