its been cut since that pic. took the rider in. the folks that let put the plot in normally cut it/bush hog it but the tractor went down. its crimson and white clover with a couple different grasses. the clovers are up nice right now. i hope the guy gets the tractor going for one more cut. soon i hope. but with the heat and lack of rain it really isn't very thick right now. all pretty small deer using it, does, yearlings, and a couple i believe to be 2. i think i got about $250 into it, 2 years ago, and the bulk of that was having a guy come in and till it. but you're right if you just keep a "hay field" cut regularly the deer like the new growth best. last sat when i checked the camera there were beds in the part of the field that is my plot.
