need advice on shooting sticks

I want to get some shooting sticks for fox and coyote hunting. A tripod style seems more stable, but are they too much of a hasle? Is a cheap one good enough or are there certain qualities I should look for?

I like a bipod that mounts on the forearm of the gun at the sling stud, they come in to lengths and have extendable legs they are rock steady.

I am also looking into buying a bipod or tripod. I have never used one so I don't know exactly what to get but I have been finding some great deals at military surplus outlets online. I really can't comment on the quality, but the prices are darn good.

Rock mount makes a great bipod I bought a 13- 23 in model an put it on my Rem 700 mountain rifle in 270 an I love it no matter where you are you always got a steady rest. It clips on an tightens down on the sling stud an then it has a place to attach your sling to it, I paid 90 dollars for mine but if you look around at different gun stores or bass pro you can find 0ne cheaper.

As far as bipods go, do you guys prefer the ones that swivel or the ones that don't? Legs notched or not?

Mine tilts up an down an swivels side to side but it dosen't rotate around in a circle the legs have rubber feet on them for a slip free grip on rock an hard surfaces. My wife bought them for me this year so the only use I have with them is target practice but I can already tell that I love them.

Sweet. It sounds like then one that swivels is the way to go. I don't mind paying a little bit extra if it is worth it. I am looking at probably getting a harris bipod sometime before the season starts.
