Scopes with rangefinder.

Are these type of scopes reliable and do any of you recommend one.

Ive been hunting for about 11 years now, Ive only hunted with a marlin 30-30 with a Tasco scope and a win 30-06 with a bushnell 3 x9 before, but ive hunted the piney woods of east texas all this time.

Now im moving to west texas with mass open fields and ive bought a 7mm with a simmons 3 x 9 40mm already mounted on it, I havent shot the rifle yet. the scope looks well, but i wonder if its the best optic for making over a 200 yard shot. Thats the only reason i am looking into a possible better scope.

200+ yard shots require knowing a lot about your rifle, scope, and load. What is the maximum yard shot you are going to make? Also, I'd recommend looking at looking at ballistics tables for your caliber and load in question.

After about 300 yards the bullet of a 7mm-08 really starts to drop, for shots past that range, it may be worth it to invest in a range finding scope.

IF you have a deplex crosshair you can use your scope as a range finder, you'll need a 3-D lifesize target..move it out 100, then 200, even 250(if you want. zoom the scope in or out until you bracket the deer from the top of his back to the bottom of his chest. This is no where near perfect as all deer are different, but it'll give you a good estimate on the range.
