T/C Omega ? Should I float the barrel on my Omega 50cal, or is that just for centerfires? |
my omega shoots just fine without any changes. Unless you're having problems at the range I don't see where the need would be to. |
The Omega barrel should be free floated when you got it. Have you done the Dollar bill test this is what I'm talking about Gunsmithing - How to Free Float a Rifle Barrel Presented by Larry Potterfield of MidwayUSA - YouTube You will only be able to go back to the 1st lug then it should stop. If you have no resistance till that point you should be good. I do this every time I remove the stock & reassemble. Like HM said if it's not effecting the gun down range I would not worry about it. |
You can actually use some shims cut from an aluminum pop can or thick plastic. If its not moving around or anything, i think you'd be fine. Synthetic stock however could benefit from using accra glass and bedding the lugs. |
