Default Some tinkering idea's

The tinkerer that i am, ive been thinking about adding some vent ports on my Optima's forearm. I plan on getting the stock dipped hopefully this summer in Burlwood pattern and i thought the Vents would look pretty cool and maybe even help cool it down a bit faster. I honestly think if i get the stock dipped in burl, it will end up being strictly a shooting range gun and i'll just get another optima for hunting LOL.

I dont know, what do you guys think about the ports? Real function or just another bore butter poop product?

i think they do serve a purpose on rifles but for most folks probably not needed on a ml. you on the other hand go to shoot and shoot you do so it would probably help you. hard to picture what i would look like after dipping

It looks good, I just wonder if you would get that much valuable range cooling time on a ml by adding small vents compared to the rest of the barrel's surface for heat discipation(spell). Only another expirment will tell.

You need to move up into a cooler part of Colorado.

Barrel heat is never a problem for me.

Or just shoot in the winter. I did have this idea about liquid cooling using the old log splitter's hydralic pump.

Just buy one of those new traditions Vortek muzzleloaders and end the need for tampering with rifles or stocks.

actually the last traditions i had, i had to do mega stock material removal in order to get the pressure off the barrel at the front of the stock. Shot awesome after that.
