how many grains of pyrodex?

I have a remington genisis that i hunt with. this past Sunday I shot a doe a little over a hundred yards using 100 grains of pyrodex. The trail had a few big splotches of blood in the snow within 30 yards of the point of impact. after that it lessened considerably, I followed it for over two miles until it went into a swamp, and it was getting dark. The rifle can take 150 grains of powder. The question is would it have made a major difference if I had used 150 grains instead of 100?

I don't think using more powder is the fix. I use 100 grains in my remington and it shoots fine. I would look at the type and size of the projectile. I was having a problem with not getting pass through shots shooting a Hornaday 240 gm sabot. I switched to a 300 gm Hornday XTP and it was problem solved.

If you tracked a deer over a mile it was probably a flesh wound anyway. Just MHO
