by the way, there is VERY little difference in drop between a 223gr Powerbelt and a 348gr Powerbelt.

With 100gr pellets the 245gr powerbelt is 9" Low @ 200. The 338gr Platinum is actually UNDER 9" drop @ 200.

I'd try the 300 gr powerbelt platinums as they hold up much better.

Default hunter or ball

Maxi Hunters have a different design than Maxi Balls do and don't perform as well for me.

Default zero

It sounds like you are referring to a 150 yard zero.Is that correct?I'm zeroing in at 100 yards and dont have a shot availble over 170 yards.

I've never heard of a ML bullet not holding up. Pretty hard to destroy a TC maxi hunter or maxi-ball. I think Buffalo bullets would fall into the same range. I have a recovered maxi-hunter bullet that went end to end. It expanded to about 1" dia, not bad! just remember to shoot them from a 1-35-1-48" barrel rifling.

Default not done yet

OK,I went to the range yesterday.I didn't fair so well though.I guess the eyes really ain't what they used to be.I'm not gonna give up though.I'm confident of a kill at 50 yards with the open sights but I'm going to have to put a scope on it.The recoil pad on that thing (CVA Wolf) is by far the best one I've ever dealt with. And the trigger...WOW!Excellent!I think I was just getting tired from cleaning it after every shot.Although it is easy to clean,it's time consuming.

I simply run a wire brush through after two shots and good to go for two more.

Default cleaning

I put a patch over the wire brush, soak it with cleaner, run it through the barrel, take the patch off at the muzzle end,and scrub the barrel a couple times with the brush to remove plastic. Then dry with a clean patch or two and reload. This is done after every shot to duplicate the conditions that will exist when I take a shot at a deer.It might seem a little particular, but that's me I guess.

We have 2 of the CVA wolf, bought 1 year apart. They are able to use magnum loads, but with the terrain here and how close the deer come, we don't use more than 100 grains of Triple 7 pellets. You just need to set up at the range and try it with the different loads. As long as you don't go over 150 grains of pellets, you should not have a problem, just remember to swab the barrel after every 3-4 shots, or accuracy might be affected or the build up of residue could affect the barrel.
