You should have gotten him the Traditions .50 cal PA pellet Flintlock

Not bad looking bb. The CVA mountain rifle has a bit more Hawken look to it was the reason behind the purchase. Foe those interested you can still purchase a genuine Hawken kit for around $1300.00. It is a bit pricy but would be as close to a Sam Hawken rifle as you can get. If I could get one in a flint model I'd save up and get one but its not offered. So that's why I built the 54 Hawken.

naw our season is 9 days or so before our rifle and we have to use our rifle tag. yup thats right, we have to buy a license but it doesn't come with a tag. now for the life of me i'm not sure why i got my pa ml license.

i don't think i ever had a problem with the bang that wasn't my fault, with any of the mls.

4 of us have about a 50% failure to fire rate. Usually its snowing and nearly impossible to keep the powder dry.

Again I gotta suggest you look into the Traditions line of Muzzleloaders.
The Hawken Woodsman 50cal Flintlock by Traditions is SO SWEET looking!
and if this is the style/type front stuffer someones interested in hunting with at just $469.00 it's Kind of hard to beat..

bb they look like they are worth taking a look at. its hard to tell, from pics, the quality of machining, brass, fit and finish, but it looks pretty nice. like looking at that hunterbolt looks way better in pics than it does in my hands.

Yeah ronn, I agree with you... I've been keeping an eye on Traditions Firearms since I purchsed my Pursuit LT in 2006
And so far I am really impressed with Traditions, a Lot of people don't even realize Traditions has the Outfitter series of centerfire rifles offering popular hunting Calibers like the .243, .270, .308, .30-06 & .444
Interchangeable Wilson rifled Barrels (made in the USA) so you can go from muzzleloader, to rifle or even shotgun in just a couple of minutes.

I'm not saying Traditions is better than their compettitors, Traditions just happens to be (in my opinion) the more affordable, quality alternative to a lot of other manufacturers who over price their products.
Look what happened to knight, luckily someone believed in that product enough to rebuild that company and get it back into the game, but I believe they fell because they priced themselves right off the market maybe I'm wrong but that's what I think happened....
