4F is a finer powder & ignites easier, but it will also absorb moisture quicker too.

I use FFg in the bore & FFFFg in the pan.
My standard load in my .54 caliber guns is 80 gr. of FFg & there is no lack of penetration.

If looks could kill that firearm might harvest everything in sight. Real, real nice!

HM you should check out the Traditions line of more Traditional muzzleloaders like the .36 caliber Shenandoah flintlock rifle which is also available in .50 caliber and the Tennessee .50 cal Flintlock and the Pennsylvania .50 cal flintlock rifle shown below....
I hope they never change their name because when I can afford to buy some stock I want to know just where to make my investments.

I know I know, just poking some fun there. I would purchase some stock also. Even TC products aren't very traditional in the true sense but very popular and well worth their money. I knew I could get you going!!!
3f powder is normally used for all calibers less than 54. I use 2f in the 54 Hawken and 3f in the PA 50. I use 90 gr of 3f in the 50 PA hunter and 110 gr of 2f in the 54 Hawken. Even though I push TC products, your Traditions pellet flint rifle is an awsome hunting looking rifle.

I see where they list the max powder charge at 150 gr on the pellet rifle, I would strongly suggest to start in the 80 gr range and increase up to 100 gr for a sabot bullet and 90 gr for a patched round ball as a max charge.

HM, here at the deer hunters club we can agree or disagree and in the end it's the friendships here that are always going to outweigh the discussions because we all know friends are more important than rifle brands or bow brands or whatever else the topics may be about..

BB, I couldn't agree with you more! In-order to be friends there must be a good sense of humor shared!

Well I had another day hunting, gun worked flawlessly with bad snow and 40mph winds. I used pellets on my last shot and they went off, but couple squirts 4f down the barrel first, couldnt get them to go off with out it. Just wanted to let you guys know how they worked.
