Default Grease or teflon tape for breech plug

Pretty new to muzzle loader shooting. Growing on me pretty quick. Just wondered if you prefer Grease or teflon tape on the breech plug threads and if teflon tape does it have to be the one that is pink in color.

I've never heard of anyone using teflon tape on a breach plug. I would suggest just a small amount of breach plug grease on your finger and spread it around the threads should do it. I also put just a dab on the nipple threads, and on a hooked breach on the locking lug.

I agree with huntingman, I doubt anyone would suggest using teflon over breech plug grease.

Smile Teflon tape

fla shooter:

Using teflon tape in place of breech plug grease is the best way to go. And yes, please use the pink tape over the white as it is stronger. There is no mess with tape as there is with grease and it usually comes right off after your shooting session. Just wrap your breech plug with one tight layer of tape and put it in the rifle. Seals breech good with no blowback and will not cause your BP to stick like sometimes happens with grease.

Guess I broke a rule by putting in a link for you on my last post. I will send you PM with the link so you can find out more info about using teflon tape on your breechplug.

Sorry Mr BruceBruce1959 was not aware of the rule against links. Will be more careful in the future.
