Ah seems like randy wakeman and his scare tactics are trying to work and scare people away from their cva muzzle loaders.

IMO the only thing TC has right now is millions of dollars worth of paid sponsorship to make people think they have the best their is. If S&W hadnt bought TC, TC would have gone under.

Bergara barrels are high quality, Ed Shilen helped design and give them pointers on how to make a high quality rifle and Bergara has done just that. They guarantee 1" groups @ 100 yards with their barrel, followed up by a lifetime warranty. We have the CVA Apex 30-06 and .50cal muzzleloader barrel and let me tell you, 1 to 1 1/2" groups is normal with that muzzleloader and open sights with my 62 year old father behind the rifle. The Accuracy and quality of the barrels is just unreal.

You'll hear stories from that writer who talks down on cva about the way the spanish proof their barrels and how they dont proof every barrel they make... Well them not proofing every barrel is true..... TC - Knight They dont proof every barrel either! Yet he wont mention that, And if he does he'll just hit back with, Oh well those barrels are made with strong american steel.

Bergara uses steel made from all over the country including the USA. The Bergara barrels on the muzzleloaders are cut from the same steel they make the center fire barrels out of. This is excellent high quality steel, not some cheap, made in india steel that the write tries to make people believe.

These articles the guy writes are just what i've said earlier, They are simply scare tactics made to scare people away and hopefully for the writer, sell them a savage as hes got his hand in that pot of cheerio's.

Your Wolf is as safe to shoot as ANY other muzzle loader out on the market. Keep it and enjoy it. If you want to upgrade, i highly suggest t he New CVA Wolf or the New CVA Optima, I own one of each and they do 1" groups or better.

I don't read Randy Wakeman reviews any longer, I really feel bad for the people who do buy into his rhetoric.

i've never read his stuff. my thoughts on cva come from owning a couple. i got a kit years and years ago of a ky long rifle. its was fine nothing wrong with it but sure wasn't up to tc standards in the machining of the lock and such. then i wanted an inline and bought a 150 magnum. its a piece of crap. the barrel is like a thin walled piece of pipe. the screw to remove the bolt striped. and it kicks the bejesus out of ya. thats about10 years old. i carried it one season haven't shot it since. my savage is 10 times the gun my cva is.

Savage makes a really good front stuffer without a doubt, but ronn if you know anyone that has the CVA Optima, you should ask to take a couple shots with it, I think you'll be amazed at how far CVA has come along over the years..
I'm not saying you're going ro want to replace the Savage but you will be really suprised with the new CVA Optima.

I'll stick with my Thompson Center Arms thank you. I've owned three different models through thirty years and they are accurate and dependable. I had only one issue years ago and traveled forty five minutes south from my home and they told me to drop it off and go for lunch and return in an hour or so. When I got back they had replaced the barrel and laser sighted it for me and upgraded the sights for free , and it was four years old.I know that they pay for a lot of sponsorships on TV shows but I have been happy with mine and it carries nice . It is in my opinion one of the best out there. So to summarize it I say, TO EACH HIS OWN , IF YOU LIKE IT STICK WITH IT!!!! One more thing, if you have ever pulled up an encore you will agree that it pulls up great, and is an extension of your body. They fit like no other fire arm that I've ever held.

I know exactly what you mean it is very hard to recover from a sour experience...

I don't own a CVA, I did build a CVA kit years ago and it was an okay weapon
nothing to brag about thats for sure but todays CVA's are really back in the game.

I have also heard the "horror stories" about the Wolf barrels blowing up, but I went digging for info and found out that the Wolf barrels that did blew up were loaded with more than the recommended loads. 150 grains is the maximum load and some idiots were using more than that and also were not putting a cleaning patch through the barrel after 3 shots. I carry patches with me on the off chance that I will miss what I shoot at and try more than 3 times in a day. That's what I was instructed to do when I bought my Wolf. I love my Wolf and the first time I hunted with it I got a nice doe. I think that expensive is not always the best, though I know T/C is a great product. I just can't afford to buy expensive guns and just try to get my money's worth. Everyone has their own opinions and I will never try to tell anyone else what to do or buy. If you can afford it, go for it.

TC is #1 in customer sevice. But not as much in product performace any more. Not that they don't make a great gun.I own one and will attest to that.CVA had problems with barrels quite some time ago and recalls were made on those rifles.Randy Wakeman needs to stop his scare tactic campaigne. There is nothing to worry about new CVA's.I just bought a new wolf and have no concerns what so ever.
