I live in Virginia, which has some pretty good public land options for the muzzleloader. Just curious, what public land recommendations do you have for someone that is interested in hunting the mid-west for trophy-class whitetails?
If you plan on coming to Iowa to hunt Late muzzlelaoder it's damn cold so pack well for it the Iowa wind will eat you alive. I would Hunt Big Marsh or anything in Butler county. Iowa dnr site has a map & lists all the public land It's not very well known for it's trophy deer but that is changing & fast very little pressure on public land. I would stick to zone 7 or 10. The lower half of the state have tons of pressure & can use rifle high power. So many outfitters down that way its crazy.
