Can a rifled muzzleloader be used as a shotgun

I would like to turkey hunt with a muzzleloader. Here in MO we can only use a shotgun. I have a rifled ML that I use for deer hunting. What would be your thoughts on using it as a shotgun? Has anyone tried that? I think the rifleing may mess with the shot some, but it is only a 1:28 inch twist. Not much of a twist but certainly more than a smooth bore.

Actually your rifling is a fast twist in a ml. I'm not one to use a rifled barrel for bird shot. Hopefully, you can work out another option.
